
Admittedly, I’ve only just come around to the idea of blogging for pay. That’s right; there are people who will professionally pay you to blog. I learned about this some time back, but just decided to try this to start my writing career.
Marshall Kirkpatrick recently wrote an article entitled “How Much Do Top Tier Bloggers and Social Media Consultants Get Paid?” at ReadWriteWeb.com. Kirkpatrick interviewed top tier bloggers and social media consultants about how much money they made. The answers varied, depending on whether the writers were freelance ($10 – $200 per post, averaging at $25), in-house employees (salary range $45-$90K) or consultants, who are a very small portion of this sector but make the big bucks. First, let’s back up a little just in case you haven’t heard of Twitter. Twitter is one of the many (and I mean MANY) social networking or social media services. Think of it as instant messaging with hundreds of people at once. Better yet, since you can only send messages that are 140 characters or less, its more like texting with hundreds of people. The basic concept of Twitter can be seen in the little box where you enter your text. Twitter asks “What are you doing?”








There are pros and cons to both full disclosure and total privacy. There is no right or wrong option and what works for one blogger may not work for the other. Its a personal decision that only you, the blogger, can make.
