Monetizing My Mom Blog

It’s been a crazy few months, and I apologize for not blogging here in so long! Some situations have arisen that have encouraged me to once again refocus my time and effort into monetizing my mom blog, so I’d like to share with you what I’ve done, and what I’m planning on doing.

Redesign
My blog needed an upgrade, and the template I had customized last time was not compatible with the required WordPress upgrade, so I tried a new template and customized that. If you look at my blog, you’ll notice the layout is different. That’s intentional. I’m hoping that this layout will allow me to place more space for advertising. [Read more...]

Getting Paid Blogging Jobs

Admittedly, I’ve only just come around to the idea of blogging for pay. That’s right; there are people who will professionally pay you to blog. I learned about this some time back, but just decided to try this to start my writing career.

Marshall Kirkpatrick recently wrote an article entitled “How Much Do Top Tier Bloggers and Social Media Consultants Get Paid?” at ReadWriteWeb.com. Kirkpatrick interviewed top tier bloggers and social media consultants about how much money they made. The answers varied, depending on whether the writers were freelance ($10 – $200 per post, averaging at $25), in-house employees (salary range $45-$90K) or consultants, who are a very small portion of this sector but make the big bucks. Introducing Gina

Hi there! I’m a new blogger here at Profitable Mommy Blogging and I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Gina and I’ve been a mom for 5 years. I’ve been blogging since I was pregnant with my first daughter. My blog, Mom Blog, has generally ranked in the top 5 or 10 on Yahoo! and Google in recent months, going as high as the #1 and #2 spots. I’ve been interested in monetizing my blog, but I haven’t had any real luck with it.

My posts here are going to follow my effort to change that. I encourage you to post comments with your experiences, and from time to time I may ask questions as well. So the question is: how to be a profitable mom blogger? Please feel free to post questions, comments or articles related to this topic, and I will be sure to do my research and post responses.

In addition, last week I landed a paid pro-blogging gig by responding to an ad. I’d love to share with you how I got that spot. As mentioned, I’ve also had great success with SEO rankings for my blogs, so I will also share what I’ve done to achieve that ranking, and what I’ve done when the rankings have dropped off.
