Make Money Blogging By Using Your Journalism Skills

If you have experience in mainstream journalism you are a hop, skip, and jump ahead in the blogging game. Some mothers that became inactive when their children were small made good use of blogs and social media to keep their name out there and their skills honed. I’ve seen several success stories of mothers re-entering the mainstream journalism work force with minimal effort due to their online work and reputation.
There’s also a lot of mothers that don’t want to go back to work full time. There’s lots of jobs you can do from home. Make sure you list your experience on the about page of your site. Seriously think about having a very focused blog on a topic that you love. If you could have any journalistic job in the world, what would it be? What would you talk about? Create that type of site.
If you were in TV try online video. You like audio the best? Start a radio show or podcast. Writing is your strong point? There are lots of freelance opportunities available online – including this one at Investigative Mommy Blogger. There are sites and forums dedicated to freelance writing jobs. Get started and immediately work on monetizing your work. You don’t have to build a resume/experience if you’ve already been in the field. You really are a hop, skip, and jump ahead. So go for it!
I’m A Clever Girl And You Can Be Too

I recently joined the Clever Girls Collective. I’d heard good things about them through several other bloggers I’ve met in real life. I’m pleased with their offers, their professionalism mixed with personalization, and their responses to questions I had. So far I have written a sponsored post for them and received the payment via PayPal. I am in the process of trying out the Kinect Your Shape Evolved for a review for them, and I’ve filled out several other forms for ongoing programs.
Opportunity: Mega Bloks Mom

I received this via email and want to share it with you. If you decide to sign up leave yourself a bit of time. There’s a pretty long form plus you have to enter a sample blog post for them.
MEGA Brands Inc., a trusted family of leading global brands in construction toys, games and puzzles, arts & crafts and stationary, is launching 1) the Mega Bloks Family Club AND 2) the Mega Bloks Mom search.
MEGA Brands is looking for five – count em’ five – Mega Bloks Mom personalities to contribute to the Mega Bloks Family Club, a brand new MEGA Brands blog and online community.
If selected, each Mega Bloks Mom blogger will receive compensation, along with free MEGA Brands products.

The ONE Thing YOU Should Focus On Right Now

The question is: What are you going to do?
You could:
- - write a book or an ebook
- - promote affiliate programs via PPC
- - sell products on eBay
- - create & optimize content-rich sites in niche markets
- - build an empire of mini-sites
- - become a public speaker
- - be a web designer, copywriter or VA
That list could go on and on… and on. What I see all too often is that many people try to do ‘the whole list’. Or at least several at once. And that can be okay if your focus is one and the same in all things that you are doing. Or it can be disastrous. A recipe for failure.
Posh Blogging Jobs

After blogging from home and squeezing every second out of my day these jobs sound like a dream. Even though I may never be hired for this type of job the knowledge that these jobs are available lift my spirits. You’ve got to have a dream, right?
This Green Boat Project doesn’t require much experience, but you do have to give them a year of your life. I can’t apply for this because only single people, couples, or a single parent with one child can qualify. I’m pretty sure that having 3 kids disqualifies me for this one.
I have to admit that the way The Ultimate Mountain Gig uses “mountain” as a verb kind of bugs me. I’m thinking of applying even though I’ve never skied in my life. 4 months in the Waldorf Astoria making videos and blogging is quite an incentive. I’ve been wanting to try to ski. What do you think? Should I apply from the angle of a beginner that would love to learn?
