Profitable Mommy Blogging #22

This carries on the discussion I started on this week’s Work at Home Moms Talk Radio – so be sure to listen to that first!

In part one I talked about all of the communities that we’re part of.

Don’t forget that while you’re finding your place in all of the various web communities, that your primary goal needs to be to build your own community – people who are interested in you, your expertise and products.  I’m not talking about setting every person up with a social network of their own – I’m actually talking about your mailing list.

Yes, a mailing list is a community as well.  At least you should treat it that way.  It’s you interacting with a community of people interested in you.

So what are your choices?

My first recommendation is always Aweber, but for the frugal minded WAHM, I also mention Mad Mimi which has an option for starting free.

Stay in touch with Kelly, subscribe to her personal mailing list.

Carrie Lauth interviews our guest this week, Kelly the Kitchen Kop. Her blog focuses on traditional nutrition, and she writes about real food and “politically incorrect” eating. We’re talking about the importance of choosing a tight niche for your blog. Instead of trying to please everyone, Kelly has discovered that being a little controversial can boost your traffic and help you gain a loyal following. She also shared her top traffic generating methods and encourages moms to jump into using Twitter because of its high ROI and simplicity.

April talks with Nina Frye and Cindi Schmitzer, owners of LTD Chix, a line of t-shirts that capture the joy and stress of Motherhood. Profitable Mommy Blogging Episode #11

Join me as I recap what’s been happening on the blog since last weeks show and then we’ll enjoy a great guest interview!

Alaina Frederick, host of the soon to launch Giggle Talk Radio, had a interesting conversation with Jen Matuska of Mommy Instincts. Jen has been a blogger since first wanting to share her joy of a new baby in early 2007.

After starting Mommy Instincts she has found a joy of sharing her opinion on products for children and their parents. So she started a new blog to focus just on these product reviews as she saw that her main focus of Mommy Instincts was going to be muddied by the product reviews. It’s a great reminder to stick to your focus and finding new avenues for things you may enjoy.

Don’t forget to vote for your Favorite Mom Blog Header!
