How Do You Join An Affiliate Program?

The basic answer is, “You apply.” Once you find the affiliate program you want to join you will need to answer all their questions and give them your information. Some programs will approve you right away while others will make you wait while they check your application. Once you are approved you can log in and get your text link for a post or a button for your sidebar.

An easy way for anyone to start is by joining Amazon Associates. Just go to Amazon.com, scroll to the bottom of the page, click “Join Associates, and follow the directions from there. The good points are that most people trust Amazon and you can find just about anything on it. The bad point is that the commissions are small.

The next step is to think of a product you like, use, or talk about a lot. Search the products website for an affiliate program. Some businesses have their own affiliate program – like Mom’s Talk Biz or Mom Webs. Other businesses use a third party to handle their affiliate program – like Logical Media, One Network Direct, or Link Share.

If you can’t think of a product you can join one of those affiliate programs I just listed. Then pick a product or program to promote on your site or through social media.

It’s a good idea to set up a spreadsheet to keep track of your information for the different programs you join. Believe me, it will save you a lot of time!
