Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a content production line running on your computer? Just like in a factory, your blog posts would travel along an assembly line where a machine would insert an attention-grabbing title, opening paragraph, a few sub-headings and bullet points, and finish it off with a compelling call to action. Simply push a button to create a quality article, upload to your blog, and you’re done in time to enjoy dinner with the kids.
Unfortunately, unless you’re running an auto-blog, content creation takes a bit more work than simply pushing a button. But you can learn how to blog better. You can become more prolific, more efficient, and even faster at building articles and blog posts. You might even make it in to dinner.
Know Your Subject
This should be obvious, but you might be surprised at how many bloggers choose their niche simply because they think it will make them money. I’ve got news for you, if you don’t know anything about playing guitar, not only will you struggle to write good blog posts, but you’re not going to sell very many learn-to-play-guitar books.
You have two choices here. You can either learn to play guitar (hey, I know a great eBook about that!), or blog about something you do know. If you’re really interested in playing guitar – beyond how you can make money with it – then I’d recommend the first. Try out the products you’re promoting, and you can help your readers learn along with you. You’ll find plenty to write about, too. But if your only interest in guitar stems from the fact that the eBook pays a 75% commission, then perhaps it’s best if you choose a different niche.
Read and Write. A Lot.
Ask a hobby blogger how they go about writing a blog post and they’ll likely say something like, “Oh, when I get inspired I sit down and write something.” Ask a professional writer about waiting for inspiration and they’ll tell you that’s the path to the poor house. Inspiration doesn’t come to you, you go to it. And how you get there is by reading and writing in your chosen subject.
Words have a way of multiplying. The more you write, the easier it becomes. And the easier it becomes, the more you write. Compose enough blog posts and articles on your given subject, and you’ll scarcely be able to pull yourself away from the keyboard. Seriously. Make writing a habit, and you’ll never run out of ideas.
