Wow - everyone has left such great advice. I agree I think posting regularly and leaving quality comments on other similar blogs is a great way to get started.

When I first started I actually left comments on other mom blogs. Which those comments can definitely bring in some traffic, but if you want to get loyal readers you will want to make sure there is plenty of quality content on your blog too.

Oh an twitter is great too, but again twitter can bring the traffic but if you want loyal readers (and traffic) then quality content should definitely be a priority. :)

I still consider myself a newbie but there have been a few things that have worked well for me...many mentioned here already.

Twitter and social networking is awesome!
COMMENT-COMMENT-COMMENT! Be a sincere follower of other blogs that you like. Read their post, be interested and let them know. People can tell if you're dropping in for selfish reasons.
Meme's like Wordless Wednesday are not only fun, but they do help build up your community of bloggy friends.
Giveaways! Once you start establishing yourself around the neighborhood, start giving away some goodies! Everyone loves goodies.
Post consistently....i love to check in on blogs daily. I think having something to say once a day is a great way to get regulars to come back.
And just be yourself! Type the way you talk....just be real! ?

I didn't read all the other comments so forgive me if I repeat but the best way to break in is to just jump in with both feet. I know it's so easy to be intimidated but there is no need to. Start commenting on other mom blogs. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself or ask questions. Remember we all started in exactly the same place. Also participating in weekly carnivals (such as Menu Plan Monday and Works for me Wednesday) are excellent ways to get noticed.
Hope that helps!!

In a way I still feel as if I'm starting out, but I've found it easiest to just be myself and put some of myself into my posts. The products I promote, for the most part are products that I have personal experience with.

I've joined Twitter most recently, but am also a contributing member to a couple of different social networking sites. (Contributing be the key word there) It's more than just joining the community and putting up your profile - people get to know you. As you meet people, they'll check into your links, your blogs, etc. and you build a network that way as well, as you're checking into the links and blogs. ;)

One of my favorite ways to connect with moms was through mom masterminds (www.mommasterminds.com)
Otherwise, just continue to visit the blogs of those moms you like and make useful comments! I realized I had been admitted to the "mommy blogger" club when I was "tagged" by a mom blogger that I admire for an online game! You never know when mom's notice your comments, and in most cases, any good mom blogger will read the comments, and may soon start to feel like they know you, too (and then, ta da! - you're in!)

Don't be afraid of the experienced bloggers, watch and learn from them. Use twitter and build up a network of friends there, visit their blogs and comment, develop relationships with PR people and companies if you want to do reviews and giveaways. Contribute to sites that allow you to link back to your blog. Just network, network, network. I'm just starting to move from feeling like an outsider to feeling included and it took some work to get there!

What I did was browse mom blogs and look at their "blog rolls" and just went "blog hopping" from blog to blog leaving comments and therefore those people would come back to see where the comment came from and come and comment on my blog. It was neat and some of those blogs I still read and comment on today. Commenting is the fuel that keeps a blogger going!

I published a few blog posts first before I went looking for others like me. I posted comments on their blogs and started commenting regularly. I stumbled across blog carnivals and started to join in with them. It's been a long slow journey. Twitter has opened things up a lot more and all the social networking in general.

Everything that the other ladies have shared in spot on but I would also include getting a partner to share the work and help your grow your blog.

With a partner you have to share the profits (if you're trying to make some money) but you also share the work load. One of you will always be available to post fresh content which leaves you time for family, days off, vacations & IDon'tWanna days. Besides that, it's just plain fun to share the ups and downs with someone "in it" with you.

Where to find a partner? Check out the sites listed above - twitter, facebook, online mentoring or networking groups. They're all great places to begin the search.

Twitter is your best friend! Commenting on other mommy blogs is a way for others to get to know a little something about you. You'll make friends faster this way. And in return many of them will visit your blog and comment as well.

Offer to write an original article as a guest blogger on someone else's blog. Most bloggers welcome fresh content. It's a good idea to send along at least an outline of what you will blog about, if not the entire proposed article. When you send it, just give the blog owner a deadline. That way if you don't get a reply, you can withdraw the offer and send it to someone else. You can either ask the blog owner to introduce you and link back to your blog, or include a short author bio at the end of the article with a link back.

My advice is to network and make friends outside the blogging world. Join online groups that share your interests - not to promote your blog but to share your knowledge and experience and to truly make friends. Facebook is a good way to find like-minded groups, but there are also Yahoo! groups and other online forums.
Hope this helps!
