Places to Post Your Vlogs

clapboardSo you’ve decided to wade into the waters of video blogging.  You’ve created a video and edited if necessary.  How do you get it on to your blog?  You host it on a video site under your username.

  • If this is all new to you check out the up and coming MomTV.  The site is easy and fun to use plus they are on Twitter and accessible if you have questions.
  • NewBaby is a great place for expectant mothers and mothers of little ones.
  • The site I started with is Blip.tv.  I like the clean look of their player and videos.
  • The most well-known video site is YouTube.
  • Vimeo is used by a lot of bloggers, but I found it slightly confusing.
  • MotionBox is an option if you want to privately share video with family and friends around the world.

These are sites that I’m familiar with.  I’d be glad to be your friend if you’re on any of them.  I’m Jendisjournal on YouTube, Jendi on all the others.

If you are an expert on any particular subject you could add your video to the MonkeySee site.  Their videos are fun to browse through and all look very professional.  However, you can host an instructional video on MindBites and make some money from it.

Speaking of making money, I know that Blip and YouTube offer advertising to benefit the user; I’m pretty sure some of the other sites do as well.  When I checked it out I was unable to control what ads went on my video so I did not opt-in.

One more site I want to tell you about – TubeMogul. It’s a distribution site.  Instead of uploading your video to Mom TV, then Blip, then YouTube, etc. you can have TubeMogul do it for you.  You create an account and tell them which sites you want your video sent to.  I’ve not personally tried it, but I’ve heard good reviews of it.  I’m still hesitant about spreading my personal vlogs all over the www.

Here’s a list of video sites I haven’t tried.  Do any of you have experience with them?

Thanks for telling us about Motionbox. I was looking for a way to share videos of my son to my family without broadcasting them all over the world.

Great info! I haven’t heard of half of these sites but I really want to start doing some vlogging. I have used photobucket and I really like it. It is so simple to use! I started using it to upload my pictures and send them by email to family across the country. We even used it for an assignment when my son attended on online charter school last year!
