Are you a planner or a wing-it kind of blogger?
I confess, I used to wing-it when it came to blog content. As holidays and new seasons arrived I would scramble to include a few posts that would appeal to my readers for the current holiday. Typically these articles published the week of the holiday and contained random bits of information.
Then one day I realized that a little effort (planning) before the holiday would improve my posts, give my readers content they wanted AND attract new readers through search engines.
I know. I know. Planning is a taboo word to wing-it bloggers everywhere. But it doesn’t have to be.
You can plan seasonal blog content in 4 easy steps.
- Brainstorm different holidays or seasons your readers will be interested in during the next month or two.
- Consider different aspects of each event and how you can relate them to your blog.
- Decide how you want to publish the seasonal posts – as a “Week of” Series or a weekly series.
- Write a brief content statement for each post on a calendar to reference as you write each article. Or if you are REALLY into planning, start writing your posts now and schedule them to publish next month.
See? Planning isn’t difficult or time consuming!
You know, Easter is less than a month away. Why not take 15 minutes today and apply these 4 easy steps to planning Easter blog content? You might be surprised at the difference planning ahead makes.
