My guest this week is Megan Calhoun, founder of Twitter Moms.
When I first heard about Twitter Moms I wrinkled my nose at it. I said ‘why do we need a social network about a social network?’ But I was wrong! Twitter Moms has taken off like a rocket, growing to a include almost 4000 moms in just a few short weeks of it’s existence.

Twitter Moms Tip: You can blog at Twitter Moms on just about any topic you like. Focus on providing some useful information and feel free to include links to your sites. It’s a great idea to post a ‘digest’ of your other blog posts every week or to share some link love with other mom bloggers you enjoy.

This network has grown my twitter to huge numbers quickly. I LOVE IT!
Kelly, I so agree. I was like, one more social network, are you kidding me? But truly, I’m involved in this one as if I’ve been there for years. Possibly hitting it more than some of them I’ve been around in for years.

Great interview Kelly but I have a question. How does Megan profit from twittermoms.com? Is she charging moms to be included in the Holiday catalouge? Does she charge companies to be included in the RAMBO alerts? What’s her profit model? I’d love to know the answer because I’d love to know how to monetize a social network site like Ning.

@Sarah She is selling advertising/sponsorship on the site and has had some takers on that. I don’t know what her long term ideas are for Rambo but I am sure that companies would be willing to pay her for her announcements.

Another great show. I really enjoyed listening to Megan. I joined Twitter Moms when everyone was talking about it but I’ve never taken the time to look around and see all it has to offer. Now after listening to Megan talk about it I definitely will have to spend some time there and look around!
