Advantages of Affiliate Marketing

coins and chart

What is the advantage of affiliate marketing for you? There are many advantages for you. In the real world, you are going to recommend something to your friends, such as your favorite restaurant or may be something that will help your child sleep or your favorite car. Whatever you suggest or recommend to somebody is something you can get paid for. Ever think of it that way?

First, let’s talk about why companies use affiliates. Companies spend a lot of money on marketing. In fact they set aside thousands of dollars every year for marketing. These companies create commercials, billboards, magazine ads, send out mailings, and much more to market themselves and their products. But did you know they benefit more by word of mouth or recommendations. So they see the benefits of paying people to give a good quality recommendation. That is what affiliate marketing really is. It is to give a recommendation to someone that trusts you. They are paying you a finders fee or a portion of their sale.

Great Resources For Learning About Squidoo

picture from squidgraphics

Alert: If you don’t know what in the world Squidoo is check out the past two posts on Social Networking on Squidoo and How To Make Money on Squidoo.

The first info product about Squidoo that I really sat down and thoroughly read was from Jackie Lee. I’m all about free. So when I saw her Christmas Cash Blueprint I had to get it. She has a lot of great info. The only downside is that I got on a couple of her lists and got bombarded with emails. All good info, but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.

Another great lensmaster is Staci Jansma:
How To Use Squidoo

Think you don’t have time to master another promotional tool? Think again. In this comprehensive guide, Staci walks you step-by-step through the creation of your lens, from selecting a URL to choosing modules (and what a module is!) to adding content. You’ll learn everything you need to know to build your lens easily and efficiently.

I work with Staci Jansma and know that she has good products. She was one of the first people that mentioned Squidoo lenses to me and one of the first people I hunted down on Squidoo to fan and like lenses. She also sent me information about Rocketmoms and I’m so glad she did!

Rocketmoms is a group of women that make lenses[pages] on Squidoo. There are sessions with goals that you must accomplish in order to graduate. You can be brand new or a veteran lensmaker. It provides a place to ask questions and get answers as well as links. They are friendly, helpful, supportive, and I highly recommend you join this wonderful support group.

P.S. If you are on Squidoo I’d love for you to “join my fan club.” Just look for Jendi.

Social Networking on Squidoo

melissa ingold

Squid Teacher from squidgraphics

Squidoo is a remarkable resource for Internet marketers. It’s what’s considered a web 2.0 site that allows users to create “lenses,” which are individual pages situated on the Squidoo.com domain that promote a specific topic.

You may be wondering what’s so great about that, when thousands of other sites allow you to do the same thing. But Squidoo is unique. Not only do they make it incredibly easy to create a web page, ripe with graphics, content, and interactivity, but they allow – and even encourage you – to use the page to make money (very different from the marketing ban you face on MySpace).

A few other web 2.0 sites allow a minimal amount of marketing to take place, such as HubPages. But they’re far stricter about the number of outgoing links you can have, and they have other rules, which make it harder to use the site for your own personal profiting potential.

Squidoo is actually far more conducive to making real money than any other site that has come into popularity in recent years. This is the biggest reason Squidoo has risen to fame so rapidly andwhy Tiffany Dow penned the eBook Social Networking on Squidoo, which was endorsed by an endless supply of guru marketers thanks to its step-by-step instructions on how to market the right way on Squidoo.

Squidoo has finally created a site that can be used for commercial purposes in addition to being a valued consumer resource and wealth of free information. Thousands of smart marketers have flooded to the site to take advantage of the free tools available to them.

How Do You Join An Affiliate Program?

The basic answer is, “You apply.” Once you find the affiliate program you want to join you will need to answer all their questions and give them your information. Some programs will approve you right away while others will make you wait while they check your application. Once you are approved you can log in and get your text link for a post or a button for your sidebar.

An easy way for anyone to start is by joining Amazon Associates. Just go to Amazon.com, scroll to the bottom of the page, click “Join Associates, and follow the directions from there. The good points are that most people trust Amazon and you can find just about anything on it. The bad point is that the commissions are small. [Read more...]

Top 10 Ways to Increase Affiliate Commissions Fast!

Top 10 Affiliate Tips

Affiliate marketing is still one of the best ways to make money blogging. The problem is the market is flooded with thousands of affiliate marketers promoting the same products, the same way.  Use these ten strategies to increase your chance of searchers buying through your affiliate links.

1. Pick 3 Core Products at Multiple Price Points

Core products are ones that you will repeatedly recommend.  Think about 3 products that you use on a a regular basis e.g. email service, keyword research tool, and a membership site. Try to cover three price points to appeal to a wider audience.  Select a low priced option to increase the chance of people purchasing through you just because it’s inexpensive/low risk.  Also locate a product that offers recurring commission. This will provide you steady money to keep you going between the spikes and drops in overall affiliate earnings.  Lastly, pick a high-priced offer for your market.  Not only will it generate more cash, it also helps you identify the more serious buyers to market to .

Time To Refocus Your Profitable Plan

So now that you have recognized you have gotten caught up and off track, where do you go next? For me it’s back to basics. To the brainstorming ball with pen in hand and ready to write down my ideas and goals. Time to figure out what it is that I want to be focusing on and where I want to be financially in 3, 6, 12 months and beyond.

While I still need to fulfill my agreement for product reviews I’ve already received, I am making it part of my plan. I have it written right in there what reviews I have left, when I will be making them live, and looking at it as a reminder of where I don’t want to be again.

So what else is on my ‘here we go’ plan?

  • Refocus Content- as I mentioned before I want content that is respected and read because of the content itself – not because there is a giveaway attached
  • Refocus Layout- for me it’s like getting a haircut, a new style can give you a whole new outlook on life and pump up your self-esteem
  • Refocus Affiliates- it’s about building that network of income that can continue to grow, even while you sleep, take a vacation, or even head out to the playground
  • Refocus Tools- how many times I have kicked myself for not using the tools available to me is just not funny, there are so many great places out there that I’m a member of that I just don’t utilize as I should
  • Refocus Time- sitting behind the computer screen 24/7 playing on social networks may gain me a few ‘friends’, but it’s not going to get me anywhere on my path to profits. Being able to focus time and energy in focused places in the proper portions is where I need to be

Next time, let’s break down these refocus goals one by one and together see where we can go! Do you have any additional areas of refocus you are working on?

Using Your Blog to Promote Affiliate Products

Did you know using your blog to promote products as an affiliate is a great way to not only recommend useful products to your readers but also a way to earn some cash? You won’t make a million bucks overnight but the possibility of earning residual income is key here. Who doesn’t want to earn money that they don’t really have to do ‘anything’ to make?

Some affiliate programs such as the one offered through Mom’s Talk Network Affiliates offer freebie guides you can offer to your readers and you’ll earn a commission when someone downloads the free guide. While it’s a small commission the more important thing is that you are offering something free to your readers. And we all know how everyone loves a freebie.

It can get kind of annoying if all they (your readers) ever see is the ‘sales’ letter so to speak. That’s why freebie guides are a good item to promote as well. You’ll be offering them something of value but at no charge to them!

Over at Mom’s Talk Network Affiliates there are three different guides that you can promote for free but earn a commission if someone downloads the guide. There’s Hot Mama Makeover, Find The Time Mama and the newest one Be A Great Mama. There’s even the option to earn commission by promoting the Moms TalkNews newsletter.

And of course aside from the freebie guides there is a wide array of e-books available to promote ranging in price from $5.97 up to $16.97. There are Holiday e-books, business e-books and family ones. Head on over to Mom’s Talk Network Affiliates and sign up as an affiliate if you haven’t done so already. Then don’t forget to grab your codes to promote the freebies!

Affiliate

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular forms of business on the web, and an effective way to promote businesses and products. When you become an affiliate with a specific company, or affiliate program, you are awarded for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer that you provide to the company.

The basic set up, from the affiliate side, goes as follows:

  • You (the Affiliate) find a company or product that you would like to promote.
  • You join the “affiliate program” of the company and receive the tools by which you can send customers to the company’s website. This most often includes a special URL link, which will let the company know that the customer has come from you.
  • You will get credit when people visit the company’s website. Details can vary, but in most cases you receive a percentage of the revenue from sales that customers make from following your link.
