Social Networking on Squidoo

Squid Teacher from squidgraphics

Squidoo is a remarkable resource for Internet marketers. It’s what’s considered a web 2.0 site that allows users to create “lenses,” which are individual pages situated on the Squidoo.com domain that promote a specific topic.

You may be wondering what’s so great about that, when thousands of other sites allow you to do the same thing. But Squidoo is unique. Not only do they make it incredibly easy to create a web page, ripe with graphics, content, and interactivity, but they allow – and even encourage you – to use the page to make money (very different from the marketing ban you face on MySpace).

A few other web 2.0 sites allow a minimal amount of marketing to take place, such as HubPages. But they’re far stricter about the number of outgoing links you can have, and they have other rules, which make it harder to use the site for your own personal profiting potential.

Squidoo is actually far more conducive to making real money than any other site that has come into popularity in recent years. This is the biggest reason Squidoo has risen to fame so rapidly andwhy Tiffany Dow penned the eBook Social Networking on Squidoo, which was endorsed by an endless supply of guru marketers thanks to its step-by-step instructions on how to market the right way on Squidoo.

Squidoo has finally created a site that can be used for commercial purposes in addition to being a valued consumer resource and wealth of free information. Thousands of smart marketers have flooded to the site to take advantage of the free tools available to them.

Get More Newsletter Subscribers By Writing Articles

easycover-medium

Question: I’ve got a newsletter that just isn’t growing. I’m posting my site on free classified ads and I’m paying for advertising, but I’m just not seeing results. What can I do? Signed, Nobody Loves Me

Dear Nobody Loves Me,

Let me start by saying you are not alone. I believe you are working hard. Unfortunately, just because you are working hard doesn’t mean you’ll have success. You need to also work smart and invest in long-term ways to grow your list.

Let me tell you about my favorite way to grow your list – giving away articles.

If you’re not familiar with using articles as a marketing method, then you’re in for a big treat. Website owners and blog owners are always looking for content to share with their web visitors. So, there are places called Article Directories (basically a library of free articles) where they can go to find articles that they can use – free.

All of these articles have an Author bio at the end. (See the end of this article for an example.). The author bio is the primo space where the authors get to talk about their business. Their brag space, so to speak.

What does any of this have to do with you? You can write and distribute articles to these article directories, too. And, in your author bio, instead of linking directly to your main page of your site, you can link to a page where you have a signup box for your newsletter. Voila. Everyone who clicks through that link will be taken to the page where you can offer them your wonderful newsletter (with a great incentive they can’t pass up.) Of course your page will lure them into signing up and your newsletter list will grow

Make Work At Home Even More Fun With Housework

washing up 2

I work at home.

You know what that means: all the computer stuff, maybe some Skype calls, a few funny pet videos, etc., etc.

Still, while you’re happily slaving away cyber-style, the unwashed dishes form a crust worthy of protecting the space shuttle hull and the slightest draft sends tufts of pet dander, loose hair and cookie crumbs aimlessly yet merrily adrift in the living room.

Children, spouses and the occasional neighborhood/family panhandler wonder pensively about the coming night’s exotic takeout cuisine. “Chinese? No, no, it’s Tuesday…usually Italian, but there is the new taco joint that delivers. Hope it’s not the Goat Burger Barn again.”

Face it, you love the challenges of working at home, but housework? Not so much, right? Well, improved family relations and fewer health department violations aside, working that housework can have real and unexpected benefits. Consider these:

We Will Accomplish a Mini Goal This Week

GoalThis week, I will be a guest blogger on a big blog. I am telling you this not because I have a blog in mind, but because that’s my goal. I am going to find a big blog that will bring readers to my blog and I will guest post there this week.

I asked on twitter a little earlier this week how to get to post on a big blog, and I was blown away with the answer. Everyone told me that all I have to do is ask. Guest posting gives the blog owners a break and makes their lives easier. Plus it brings different kinds of traffic to their website and a fresh perspective!

So, I think I can do this. I’m a fairly proficient writer, and I can be witty at times. Who wouldn’t want me as a guest poster, right?

I need to do a few things to accomplish this goal:

  1. Decide on a Blog
  2. Come up with a Relevant Post for that Blog
  3. Email the blog’s owner and ask if they’d be interested in a guest post from me.
  4. Celebrate Accomplishing my awesome Goal.

I want you to do the same. Find a mini-goal for your blog, and make it happen this week.
