A scraper is someone that steals blog content. Sometimes there is a whole scraper blog with all stolen content. In some cases they don’t even try to change anything – except the privacy setting to hide their lying, cheating self. More often they will change the title, and maybe the beginning or end. It’s infuriating, disheartening, and just plain wrong.
Angela England wrote a post on How To Find Plagiarized Content Using Google Alerts. It’s very easy to set up Google Alerts. You tell Google how often you want to receive an alert and the phrase that you want it to search for. Then Google will send you an email with a list of links to sites that use that phrase. A lot of bloggers use it to find out if anyone else online is writing about them by name. Angela suggests that you pick a phrase from the middle of your post, put it in quotes, and schedule the alerts.
