How badly do you want to make money blogging? Do you want it more than watching that television show or movie, reading a book, or sleeping in?
Everybody is in a different life stage. Some people can exist on very little sleep. I cannot. I need my sleep. It is high on my priority list so some lower priorities get bumped instead of sleep. Housework tends to get bumped. If I’m staying busy until midnight you can bet money that I will be on the computer and not at the kitchen sink. Every so often I re-evaluate to see what I let creep in and take over my blogging time and whether it needs to stop or not.
Here are 10 tips that have worked for other bloggers – but not all 10 for the same person. Figure out what works for you and go for it.
- Have set things for each day – examples: a meme on every Wed, links on every Sat, kitchen tips every Tuesday, etc.
- Batch blog – pick a day and time and schedule posts for a week or more.
- Scale down how often you blog so you can keep to a predictable schedule.
- Do your writing away from home – at the library or local coffee shop.
- Use a timer to make yourself focus.
- Get up early or stay up late.
- Limit your time on sites such as Twitter, Facebook, etc.
- Outsource
- Use an editorial calendar
- Treat it like going to work and don’t leave the office for X amount of hours.
If your goal is to make a profit with your blog you have to take control of your time. It is the one thing we can’t buy more of!
