There are hundreds of great free WordPress themes to use for your blog but most moms want to do something to make their blog unique. The most common way to do that is to give your blog some custom bling in the form of a great new header graphic.
In honor of the launch of Profitable Mommy Blogging, Heather from Girly Blog Designz has volunteered to create a custom blog header for one lucky mom blogger. This is a $35 value and all you have to do to enter is leave a comment with a suggestion or question for a future blog or podcast topic.

Love to win that prize! I know there’s a lot to learn about blogging and for a newbie, it can be overwhelming. What i would like to know is this. If i am a complete newbie, totally illiterate – what would be the 5 most important thing or action i need to know and do to actually get a blog up and running and in what sequence.?

I have 2 questions.
1) What is your take on blogs having a huge blog roll? I personally have decided that with my blog, I will only add blogs that I read on a consistent basis and that I have found helpful. I am not willing to do a link exchange just to get my blog link on another blog. Your thoughts?
And my next question is
2) How long of a post is too long? For me personally, if a post is way too long I will just close out and not read it all the way through. I would much rather read posts that are quick and to the point (unless of course they are teaching something and it takes a whole page to do so). I don’t know if it’s just me but I get annoyed when every blog post is a mile long.
OK, so this post is probably too long now that I think about it LOL but really I’m just wondering.

My question is:
How do some mom blogs attract such a hugs following? Should you still pick a niche within the mom market to write for? Some of the more well-known mom blogs seem to appeal to the masses but then how do they attract the masses in the first place?

Two questions:
1. I have a typepad blog, how about a post on converting it to a wp – easy/hard? program to do it automatically? pros/cons of porting it over?
2. I’ve had a personal blog for a year now at http://www.southcaligirl.com Don’t post very often and wne I do, the topics are random. Important things in my life or random topics that grab my attention and I can’t keep my opinion to myself. Is it worthwhile to try and monetize a smorgasbord blog or should I try to stay on topic in one area?

I want to know in an unbiased way as possible why everyone thinks wordpress is so great. I now own a blogspot blog & a wordpress blog. ALthough I see some advantages of wordpress over blogspot, I’m finding wordpress a total pain to deal with. Most of the plugins you have to put in wordpress are automatically included with blogger. And you can now put your blogger blog on your own domain. So please convince me that the tearing my hair out I’m feeling with wordpress is worth it!
